Futsal League 2019

Jouons Winter Futsal League started in 2012, to accommodate and provide a healthy atmosphere for youth players to learn and improve their skills during the cold months of the year. It brings a holistic view to staying active and continuing soccer development. Jouons professional coaches facilitate the structured technical warmups before each game is played.

Jouons futsal is one of the largest youth futsal leagues in the Washington DC area. Futsal is a version of soccer played indoors on turf or basketball like surfaces (walls are not used). Futsal promotes creativity, technique, ball control and passing in small spaces. This allows players to continue to enhance their soccer skills even in the cold months.

You may not use any player from another team without permission from league directors.

PLAYER SUBSTITUTIONS: Substitutions may be made at any dead-ball situation, regardless of possession. Teams must get the referee’s permission before making the substitution and players are to enter and exit at midfield.

PLAYER “KITS”: All players must wear jerseys/shirts during play. Jouons will provide Jersey shirts for all teams.

Fair play: All players are expected to conduct themselves in a safe manner. The referee has the sole discretion to up to 2 minute timeouts.

The Field of Play
FIELD DIMENSIONS: The playing field will be equal to a standard high school gym court for U8+ and half of that for U6. Goals are four (4) feet high and six (6) feet wide. The goal box will be indicated by colored tape. Field dimensions are subject to change by the league directors.

PENALTY BOX: Will be taken at the marked PK spot.

BALL SIZE: Regulation game balls (size 3, and 4) Futsal ball will be issued by the Jouons staff.

GOAL SCORING: A goal may be scored from anywhere on the field. The ball changes possession after a goal is scored, and is restarted from midfield.

RESTARTS: All restarts are indirect kicks (including the kickoff to start each half). This does not include penalty kicks, which are direct.

KICKOFF: All kickoffs are indirect kicks taken from midfield, and may be taken in any direction.

THREE (3) YARD RULE: In all dead ball situations, restarts, including game start and halftime start, defending players must stand at least three (3) yards away from the ball. If the defensive player’s goal area is closer than three (3) yards, the ball shall be placed three (3) yards from the goal area.

THROW-INS: Kick-in’s only.

GOAL KICKS: May be taken from anywhere inside the goalie box. Goal kicks are indirect.

INDIRECT KICKS: All kicks will be indirect aside from corners and penalties.

PENALTY KICKS: A penalty kick will be taken from a marked penalty spot.

The League
FORMAT: 10 – 15 minutes will consist of a clinical warm-up with Jouons Staff members in preparation for competition (Teams are encouraged to be on time, so not to miss out on this). 40 – 45 minutes will be used to compete; broken up into two half’s of 20 – 25 minutes, with a 2 minute half-time period.

GAME DURATION: The game consists of two 20-25 minute (depending on age group) halves separated by a two-minute half-time period. Games tied after regulation play shall end in a tie. The match length may be shortened due to team tardies, and related obstacles.

SCORING: Scores will be posted on Monday’s following weekend play. U6 age group scores will neither be posted nor recorded.

NO-Shows: If a team is overly tardy (10 minutes) or does not show, the game will proceed as an inter-quad friendly and will be adjusted as the team’s players arrive.

Sideline Ethics: Parents, coaches, and players alike are encouraged to support the development nature of this league. We wish for this to be an environment promoting growth and not the mere short-term gain of winning.

FAIR PLAY: Players, coaches, and spectators are expected to act in the nature of “Fair Play” at all times.

FIFA RULES APPLY TO ANY RULES NOT ADDRESSED IN THIS DOCUMENT.

SITUATIONS OR OCCURRENCES THAT THESE RULES DO NOT ADDRESS SHALL BE LEFT TO THE SOLE DISCRETION OF THE LEAGUE.
